Music Reviews Artist: WahooTitle: I'm Your LoverLabel: http://www.wahoo-music.netWebsite: http://www.wahoo-music.net
'I'm Your Lover' is the first single to be taken from the forthcoming long play 'Take it Personal' by German duo Wahoo. The vocal talents of Felix from the Basement Jaxx have been called in to help and laid down over a summer sounding blend of 80s synths and a ska rhythm.
The b-side 'Don't Take it Personal' is six minutes of breezy, jazz infused summer soul - it comes with a popping funky beat and is served up Oliver Cheatham style. Needless to say it doesn't come close to classics like 'Get Down Saturday Night' but is a good listen nevertheless and the hoarse vocals add a special touch.
Wahoo is the brainchild of Berlin-based singer/songwriter/producer Georg Levin and Dj Steffen 'Dixon' Bershahnn. The pair honed their skills doing the occasional remix for artists like Jazzanova and Victor Davies but always felt their talents warranted more than the odd re-edit. Their first single 'Make 'Em Shake It' was snapped up by Defected Records in 2004.
Dixon is somewhat of a stalwart on the German electronic scene running both his own club night and record label, under the Innercity Visions brand, and having enjoyed residency as most of the places that matter in the fatherland. Meanwhile Georg has been fiddling with saxophones, key boards and dodgy recording equipment for most of his life but it took a meeting with Jazzanova's Alexander Barck to convince him to dedicate himself full time to his passion.
Their single drops on July 23rd with the album following on August 27th.
