Although I have never heard of Tiga, after the first listen of his new single – “Far from home” – and taking a quick look on his website, it’s obvious what type of artist we are dealing with. And whether or not the Mickey Mouse braces teamed with a shirt and skinny jeans gave the game away then his track definitely will.
The opening chords of electronic pop are reminiscent of everything from Gary Numan and The Human League straight up to modern pioneers like Goldfrapp. His voice has a mechanical feel about it also which only ties in well with his constructed yet stylish image and sound.
This debut album has been three years in the making and has been produced by Soulwax as well as Tiga himself. Although it isn’t anything entirely knew, it makes for nice and easy listening, a good start from a name for the future.
