This is the first in a series of releases scheduled by Art & Craft Recordings to cover current, future and past classics. Kicking off we have MYNC Project in the mix with a range of latest Ibiza anthems, big name producers and remixers and lesser-known luminaries.
Stand out contributions come from Black Science Orchestra's Paul Woolford, an overlooked producer who has regularly been racking up quality releases without gaining the recognition he deserves. His dub mix of Freeform Five's 'What do I want from you' is a sublime piece of 80's influenced stripped-down electro and his own track Vertigo has been a staple in DJ boxes all summer and would not be out of place in a Loft Classics series.
The mix flags in places with derivative, forgettable filler but in the main the energy and focus is tight. Several of these tracks are set to crossover, Morillo's 'Waiting in the darkness', Paul Johnson's 'She got me on' in particular. Neither a genre-busting or fashion-jumping release this is still a valuable insight into where house is going and future volumes will be worth checking out.
