There are only a few things better than Ben “Nostalgia 77” Lamdin. They are, in no particular order, the smell of freshly cut grass, ice cream and Ben Lamdin collaborations.
This 7” single release, predictably, falls into the latter category. Engineered with the express purpose of getting behinds-a-shaking, the two tracks on this lovely 45 are an aural delight for fans of raw, edgy, funky stuff.
They’re both brassy and bold, with relentless drumming and a quick enough pace to merit dancing at double time or booty-wobbling in the Beyonce-esque style du jour. Part Two has the added bonus of hand-claps which I’m sure could also be worked into a choreographed routine. Or not.
The release precedes a full album which on the grounds of hearing these tracks, I’m pretty sure won’t fail to disappoint. Props to Brighton’s Tru Thoughts imprint for making it all possible.
