Ministry of Sound’s recently refurbished VIP lounge held host to a glamorous night of partying last Friday, courtesy of Kala-Kala, an exciting new enterprise specialising in events, promotions and general club consultancy for the music and entertainment industry.
The face behind Kala-Kala is Michaela Alexander, who worked at the world famous club for five years, going from receptionist to manager in two. Having recently resigned to go it alone, the party queen threw this exclusive bash to launch her new venture and what a night it was!
Tim Westwood and Victor from Big Brother tried to blag their way in and only did so after club manager Gary recognised them, and US soul singer Joe was turned away after arriving too late!
Being greeted with the infamous Kala Special on arrival (a lethal mix of Champagne and Chambord with a raspberry garnish), we were then treated to free massages from the lovely Ibiza Angels, before partying the night away to a mix of hot club classics and new joints from DJ Masterstepz. Guests present included Shawn Emanuel, Black Twang, Versetti, Danielle Senior and Kele Le Roc, who all left with amazing goody bags featuring a hat and glove set for the ladies and posh wallet and key ring for the lads, as well as a bottle of wine, vodka, champagne, Hugo Boss perfume, Jelly Belly sweets, and copies of RWD and Trace, who were among the sponsors of the night.
There were also abundant supplies of doughnuts going round, not to mention the free champagne, which was flowing all night. The vibe was relaxed and intimate, the perfect setting for an evening of mingling and shaking that booty!
Over the years, Ministry has established itself as the leading London nightclub, from the calibre of artist Pas it attracts, to the DJs, atmosphere, and the genuinely welcoming demeanour of its staff. Michaela (aka Kala) has proven to be the driving force behind the venue’s continued success, and if this is a taster of parties to come from the club supremo, then it’s definitely worth securing tickets well in advance.
The next Kala-Kala party is scheduled for Valentines Day 2007.
