Ok, the first track on this CD is called “Ickey Flush”. Those of you, who think I use little known words and weird phrases in an effort to sound clever, take note. I’m not the only one who does it. What on earth is an Ickey Flush? Seriously, Ickey Flush sounds like the noise a space invaders game in a pub makes. Is this the latest thing in electronic music? I once had the reviewer’s Scarlet Letter placed on me by one publication because I gave two electronic music records bad reviews. Apparently, this drivel is considered fashionable. Track five is called “Is It Pepper”. I am salivating with anticipation…I simply have to find out if it’s pepper or not. And I will find out. If track one ever ends. Forgive me gentle reader for I mistook. The nature of the beast has been revealed to me. Electronic music hates pauses. Because a pause would be a pause for breath and in that pause for breath the audience would twiddle their thumbs, make their polite excuses and leave the building.

Why so cruel? Why don’t I just describe how this record sounds and leave you to make up your own minds? By all means make up your own minds on this one. But I can’t sit here and sum up the sound of this record because if I were forced to sum up such a sound I would have to resort to profanity. Track twelve is  called “Loose Nuke Threat”. It’s about as effective a political statement as the last State of The Union by George Walker Bush. When I was much younger, I went through a Celine Dion phase. But even music that might be described as romantic pap (did you know that cruise entertainers sometimes perform the Celine Dion track from the movie Titanic on cruise ships? Tempting fate is an occupation in itself) is better than this record.

Track one is called Ickey Plush (not flush as stated by a previous reviewer). Can you really trust a review by someone who can't even be bothered to check the track name properly, and then make weak gags based on their own error?

Why is is called Ickey Plush? Who cares? Anyone looking for a deep meaning in track names needs to get out more. Loose Nuke Threat; political statement or just a really good tune? Frankly, I don't give a monkey's whether it's intended to be political or not - I like the way it sounds. The way music sounds, regardless of whether it has a deeper meaning, is what's important. I may or may not agree with Billy Bragg's sentiment, but I can't listen to his music because I don't like it. Therefore, I don't review it.

Put Me On A Planet collects 5 out of 6 previously released (vinyl or compilation only) tracks, and in my opinion they are all belters. Plus there are an additional 7 tracks. Ok, some are a bit weaker than the others, but there is some very good new stuff too.

Yes it's a bit electronic, but it's also a bit dancey. Loose Nuke Threat has an almost ska undertone which is very good.

This album deserves to get bought in far greater quantities than it actually will, simply because it doesn't have the huge hype and marketing that mainstream, or even some non-mainstream music has. Shame, because most people will find something they like on the album, even if dance / electro etc. isn't their normal thing.
