Hed Kandi continues its twisted Disco series with an even deeper darker selection of House music. Slightly more electro in places than previous Hed Kandi offerings this compilation throws up some absolute stormers. Particular favourites are Sander Kleinenberg’s remix of ‘Muscle Car’ (Mylo), Tocadisco remix of ‘Walking Away’ (The Egg), Joy Kitikonti’s remix of ‘Mymymy’ (Armand Van Helden), Noir’s ‘All About House Music’ and the Flat Eric esque vibe of Freeform Five ‘No More Conversations’ (Mylo Mix).
Twisted Disco explores an exciting side of House where specifications do not apply and room for experiment is in abundance. The only complaint one might have is that some tracks drag on a little too long, becoming monotonous towards the end, the solution would surely be to include a mix CD of all the tracks giving the consumer two options of consumption. Disregarding this complaint Twisted Disco is thoroughly enjoyable and definitely worth gracing your CD collection for those nights when it’s all back to yours for an after party.
