Lay back and reminisce on or imagine the heat of summer of 2005 with the summer sampler from Hed Kandi. In the usual classy and understated manner Hed Kandi pull together a compilation which goes through the various moods of the season from funky house, to quiet smooth ballads and dancefloor bangers.
Although summer was pretty much a wash out in England anyone who travelled onto the continent or further a field will be able to rock out to this CD and have total recall of the moments, moods and smells of sunshine even in the dead of the artic winter. If you stayed at home in the U.K. no doubt there will be many a night out clubbing with your crew that can be reinacted in your living room to a worthy soundtrack provided by Hed Kandi.
This compilation pulls together songs from five Hed Kandi releases from Summer 2005. Music on the Summer Sampler comes from Hed Kandi’s Beach House, Es Vive/Base Ibiza, The Mix 50, Late Night Alumni and the self titled debut album from Hed Kandi artist Peyton. So while I am privileged to have selected tunes nicely mixed together for my listening pleasure you will have to go out and purchase the individual CD’s. However don’t feel at all hard done by, all five albums are out now and are well worth the investment.
Hed Kandi show their strengths again by featuring artists on this sampler who showcase the brilliance of the selection committee. This is no tone deaf motley crew High spots on this compilation include the wonderfully melodic and light romanticism of ‘Little Things’ by James Bright Featuring Rachel Lloyd. Taken from the Es Vive/Base Ibiza compilation this is a cool breeze of a song welcome in the heat of the funky dance anthems of the summer. Similarly Latrice Barnett’s ‘Lessons Learned From Goodbye’ exemplifies the reflective, sensitive and contemplative moments of solitary golden summer sunsets. In contrast ‘My life’(the Haji and Emanuel Remix) is properly belted out by vocalist Chanel takes its leads from the dance inducing soul of 80’s singer such as Cheryl Lynn and Fonda Rae and gives it some LARGE!
The range of Hed Kandi’s summer is extensive and so no matter how you spent your summer months whether it was largin it in Ibiza, cocktails in Camden or blazing in Brixton choose any Hed Kandi compilation and you will find a soundrack or you summer one way or another.
