Artist: Godskitchen Electric House
Title: VA - Godskitchen

Godskitchen is a name revered in world of dance music, so their hotly anticipated Electric House CD (one half of an Electric House and Trance compilation) was bound to impress (as do all things electro in the current musical climate). With a carefully selected and largely spot on choice of tracks, the compilation gives a good representation of the current thriving electro house scene. A couple of ill-considered decisions do occur but if this CD was the backing track to a party they would be easily ignored.

Fedde le Grand has become a name that even those unfamiliar with bouncing to bleeps on a sweaty dancefloor will recognize, so the opening track of this compilation, 'Take no Shhh', not only impresses with its effortless coolness but also draws in those new to the scene with a familiar name. The tracks move seamlessly along, a result of the flawless mixing of DJ Computer and highlights in the first half of the CD include 'Body Language', 'Remember' and 'Atrium', with a dirty bassline injecting a rawness into the album which is reinforced by Martijn ten Velden & Lucian Foort’s Bassification. Josh Wink’s 'Higher State of Consciousness', proves that it will not lay down and rest and makes an appearance here in the form of a Dirty South and TV Rock remix, hugely popular on electro-house dancefloors at the moment.

Worth mentioning are D Ramirez’s remix of Ferry Corsten’s classic, 'Junk', bringing it comfortably up to date with the scene, and 'Let it drop' by DJ Delicious, a funky crowd pleaser. The CD closes with a slightly disappointing reworking of Tiesto’s 'In the Dark'.

Overall its a good, solid electro-house album; combining remixed classics with fresh new sound from the leaders of the genre. However, it must be said, we expect better from Godskitchen!

Luci Cahn is a superstar in the making and her debut single ‘Inside Out’ displays exactly why we should all sit up and take note. Compared to the likes of Sandi Thom, Jem and KT Tunstall, her catchy melodies and clever lyrics are sure to strike a note with everyone who hears her. ‘Inside Out’ is set to be the debut release of the year so make sure you don’t miss out!

Luci is not just your average singer songwriter, she has had experience of the music industry from the inside out, working for one of London’s largest recording studios. Starting as the office junior, she began writing and recording demos in her spare time.
As time passed, she progressed to session singing, reception work and assisting engineers. Engineers at the studios heard her demos and told her she had ability and was set to let her use the studios to progress. However, the M.D fired her because he thought she had recorded her original demo at the studio without his permission.

Disillusioned, Luci decided to see the world and put her music ambition on hold. She traveled virtually everywhere and after finding her confidence, soul and inspiration, she vowed to put everything she had into her music.

The result of this new found drive and ambition is the fantastic debut single ‘Inside Out’, which is one of 12 very distinctive tracks from her forthcoming album. Working with producer, Joe Lonsdale and signed to groundbreaking independent label Halo Records, Luci Cahn is set to be one of the biggest new acts of the year.
