Defying the journalistic tendency to categorise music by genre, Audio Cinematography is probably better described as “epic.” The tracks are downtempo, “chillout” if you must, and one blends into the next despite many of them having differing influence. Opener Welcome to My World (Afridiziak), for example, is a short, plodding number that would slot into a Café del Mar compilation without too much difficulty whilst the track that follows it, Big Big Disgrace, is a slow trip hoppy number with a lyrical flow from Junior Ruff and squeaky scratching.
“With the world becoming smaller, isn’t it natural to be influenced by everything you hear?” asks Glideascope himself. Acknowledging his mixed approach, he adds, “It is simply music breaking down the barriers. My ideal collaboration would be with Bach, Bob Marley and James Brown.”
Glideascope has collaborated with Prague’s Philharmonic Orchestra but has performed at Cargo, Ministry of Sound and Pacha. That should give you some idea of what to expect from Audio Cinematography. If I were to coin a new genre for it (which I think it probably deserves), it would probably be post-lounge-club-core. D’you get me? Oh just go buy...
