The cover states sophisticated dance floor sounds from Australia, and immediately background music for a coffee house in Shoreditch, or trendy champagne/nip to the loo for a line type bar springs to mind. These compilations have a habit of playing from start to finish with mind numbing properties, that leave you struggling to distinctly remember any one track in particular. Well the monotony has been broken because surprisingly this compilation is interesting and varied from beginning to end.
Mixed by label boss Nathan Mclay the CD showcases some of Australia’s finest producers, who in turn demonstrate a mixture of genre’s that at times leaves the listener baffled in terms of categorisation.
Broken beats, Funk, Deep House, Nu Jazz….all in the mix! Sounds jumbled I know, but this mix gels together in a rather exquisite fashion and quite simply just works. Standout tracks are Eddit feat Jon Lou ‘Preshus Nerves’ Kidzen ‘Super People’ and Amphibian ‘Empty’ (Marlow Remix). Highly recommended.
