More global baile beats from the European home of Brazilian baile funk
Berlin based Mann Recordings has carved out quite a niche for itself pumping out dance-floor friendly funk carioca cuts, and they continue this path with ‘Me Bota Pra Dançar’. This time MC Marina, once of Bonde do Role, is on board and her screeching vocals make a perfect match for the dirty beats of label stalwart Edu K.
The Mann philosophy is all about offering up baile funk to a European audience and putting out records that can be mixed easily with hip hop, house and electro (something that most funk coming out of Brazil fails to do according to label boss Daniel Haaksman). With each release comes a new tag (we have already been through speed baile, garage funk and baile punk) and this time is no different; enter baile jack - bassline heavy stomping electro funk carioca.
Edu was set to lay down his own vocals on the track but became so taken by Marina he dropped his own contribution instead merely providing the beats for her rhymes. As well as Edu’s original the single comes with the Italian duo Crooker’s Baltimore house take on matters.
Once again its nice to see Man succeeding in attempts to serve up baile funk to the masses.
