The highly-prolific Soho based label has caught the summer bug early once again with its pre-summer warm up compilation in celebration of the Winter Music Conference (WMC) in Miami. On this occasion they’ve enlisted the services of London’s own Copyright to take on the mixing and selection duties for what many see as Defected’s musical guide to the forthcoming summer. With disc one getting you in the mood for the day it certainly doesn’t disappoint with some uplifting future grooves from the likes of Fedde Le Grand ‘’Ah Yeah’, Louis Benedetti ‘Fixation’ and Jada ‘Love Is’ all of which get you in the party vibe for the night ahead or rejuvenate you from the night before. For after hours disc two gets a much darker, deeper and dirtier but with a quite a few uninspiring choices which don’t better the level of those on disc one. Not all is lost however with an excellent end to disc two with what looks to be one of 2007’s biggest hits already, the infectious ‘Gallium’ by Wookie, a tune that is bound to brighten up your summer holiday whether you’re in Miami, Marbella or Margate! You also get a bonus unmixed third disc with some previous Miami classic hits for the real House connoisseur from Deep Dish ‘Stay Gold’ and Martha Washington ’Can I Get A Witness’ but to name a few. Definitely a reliable guide to some of what you will be hearing on your holidays this summer no matter where you end up, but don’t take it as gospel.
