Whilst I will spare you of the historical details, it ought to be noted that rock and dance music have gone hand in hand for years. Having said that, it could be argued that it is only recently that the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Soulwax and Mylo have brought the two into such close convergence and with such startlingly listenable consequences.
Enter Aussie three-piece – a band who are rising to the forefront of the emerging electro-rock scene more quickly than you can say “Anyone seen my skinny tie?”
Fresh from a tour with Scottish dance saviour Mylo, are releasing single Going Nowhere on Modular Records (also home to the Avalanches).
The track is an uplifting excursion into guitars and samplers, in almost equal measures. One can picture the dancers rocking and the rockers a-dancing and it’s about time everyone else hung up their genre hang-ups and embraced this new and exciting sound.
