London born DJ and producer Mark Ronson is to release a new album that takes pop classics and turns them on their head.
This is the second album by Ronson, whose production credits include Christina Aguilera, Robbie Williams, Ghostface Killah, Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse and Rhymefest, is an experiment that mixes his own eclectic musical taste with his favourite songs, both old and new.
“With my first album, I had all these people like Mos Def and M.O.P guesting, this time it’s not about that. Despite the big names, it’s about the songs…the songs are the guest stars and it’s about taking a great song and making it bounce.”
His version of Britney Spears ‘Toxic’ featuring ODB and a jazz instrumental of Coldplay’s ‘God Put A Smile Upon Your Face’ are already in heavy rotation in the clubs and will be released as a double A-Side on January 29th.
The album follows on April 16th
