Bristol band Portishead will stream their forthcoming new album, 'Third', online a week before it goes on sale in the shops. The 11 track album will be streamed on music website Last.fm from next Monday, 21st April.
The songs will be free to listen to online but people will have to pay to download the tracks.
This will be the first timeLAst.fm has made an entire album available to the public before its official release. Last.fm's Christian Ward said:
‘There is a certain group who are downloading in less than legal ways. If people can get hold of an album early on, it might not stop that kind of behaviour, but it does have more of an impact.’
