MySpace is seeking to cement its reputation as the essential website for new bands by launching a music video channel called Earwig TV.
The section aggregates videos and tracks from new bands in one place on the MySpace site, making it easier for them to find larger audiences and attract attention from record companies.
Dom Cook, marketing and content director at MySpace UK, said:
'Earwig TV is a place where music fans can discover new talent and be the first to hear about the acts of tomorrow. '
'MySpace is already the home of music so the launch of Earwig TV is a natural next step in exposing the next generation of stars to our 10 million unique users. We’ve picked the first set of bands because they’re all creating a buzz at the moment as well as being prolific on the live scene in the last year.'
Earwig TV currently features profiles on 11 hotly tipped acts for 2008, including The Duke Spirit, Operator Please, Milburn and One Night Only, as well as live footage and interviews with showcased artists.
