Could it be true? Is the iTunes fad over? Apparently so according to market analyst company Forrester Research.
The company, who conducted the research in the US by analysing 2,791 U.S. iTunes debit and credit purchases, claim that Apple has seen a 65% fall in iTune sales during the first 6 months of this year.
Forrester commented in the report that it was possible that buyers were reaching their saturation level for digital music, but iTunes dismiss these comments labelling the report as 'simply incorrect'.
Apple started iTunes in April 2003 to help broaden the iPod's appeal and has had massive success and soaring sales, but the recent findings suggest that the boom could be over.
Market analyst Josh Bernoff who wrote the report said:
"It is too soon to tell if this decline was seasonal or if buyers were reaching their saturation level for digital music."
Apple has sold more than 1.5 billion songs through the iTunes site and sells more than 1 million videos a week.
