Already a house hold name, it’s been over two years since we last heard from Dizzee Rascal (real-name Dylan Mills) via his acclaimed second album, ‘Showtime’. After a long break from the music game, the grime legend is already on his way to murking the scene with his new album ‘Maths and English’.
Not a big fan of school, the title is unpredictable for someone of Dizzee’s persona however, yet again, the emcee surprises us. Currently hitting of the album and onto the airwaves is his new single ‘Sirens’ which was voted NME’s and The Guardian Guide’s single of the week. Over the years, the 22-year old East London talent, who found fame off the back of his single ‘I Love You’, has been labelled as one of the biggest and most successful grime artist to ever come out of the UK.
Since its birth, nearly eight years ago, the genre has been the centre of attention for gun crime and a recent spat of teenage murders. Nevertheless, it’s still standing strong.
Dizzee who said “I want to master hip hop like Bruce Lee mastered martial arts” is also starring in a Channel 4 commissioned programme, ‘DIZZEE RASCAL: BOW SELECTOR’ which shows the many sides to his music, influences, character and his 100% commitment to everything he undertakes in life. The show will be aired for the first time on Channel 4 this Sunday on June the 3rd.
'Sirens' is available on CD (7th June) and download (12th June).
