Blur drummer Dave Rowntree is reportedly set to run for Labour in the next General Election. Rowntree is running for the Cities of London and Westminster seat and will have to overturn an 8,995 majority held by Conservative MP Mark Field.
The musician moved into politics following Blur's 2002 release Think Tank, but failed in a bid to become a London councillor last year.
The musician told The Times that jhe hopes he can prevent ‘a whole generation of non-voters’ by inspiring young people.
If he does succeed in becoming a member of the British Parliament (MP) and beat the favourite, the Conservative Party's Mark Field, it is likely to delay any chance of a Blur reunion with his former bandmates Damon Albarn, Alex James and Graham Coxon for several years.
