The Student Broadcast Network is desparately trying to find a new buyer or face into administration.
Despite having employed Emap Advertising as its exclusive sales house just a year ago, the Network, which supplies programming to over 50 university radio stations up and down the country, has reported losses of £4.5m in the last year. Lack of advertising revenue and payments made to universities to develop their stations accounts for the loss. SBN director Tony Harbron says:
'It is very sad and very disappointing for all of those involved in SBN. We paid out more to students and the university radio stations than the revenue coming in and it is not sustainable.'
