The big news this Rajar is that London station Magic FM has over taken Heart 106.2 FM as the second most-listened-to London radio station after 95.8 Capital FM.
Magic's share of listening in London climbed to 6.1% from 4.8% in the last quarter, leaving it only 0.1 percentage point behind Capital FM on 6.2%, down from 7.2% in the last quarter.
Capital and Heart have historically battled it out every Rajar for the top spot in London, but now Magic has pushed Heart down to the third most-listened to station on 5.3%, down from 5.4% in the previous quarter.
Capital FM's Johnny Vaughan improves his breakfast show performance gaining 83,000 listeners over the last quarter, taking the total to 1.13 million.
Choice FM London also added a respectable 55.2% to its weekly reach year on year, in line with the fact it has doubled its transmission area.
UK digital radio stations did well in both the commercial and BBC sectors. High reach numbers are undoubtedly due to the increased purchase of digital radios in the run up to Christmas. Heat added an astonishing 124.1% to its weekly reach when compared against last years figures and Mojo radio added an impressive 82.4% across the same period. Another commercial digital station that did well was Oneword which saw its reach up by an impressive 75%. BBC digital stations to increase their reach included BBC6 Music and BBC 7, up 53.5% and 46.4% respectively.
