Hit40UK is shelved
Rumour has it that UK commercial radio stations are to drop the network chart Hit40UK this autumn to replace it with 3 brand new charts based on different music genres and appealing to different audiences. The three genres will be mainstream pop music, adult contemporary music and urban music, thus opening up three major sponsorship opportunities for the radio industry.
With all the major commercial radio groups working closely together, Media Week suggests that the industry hopes to increase radio’s 7% share of listeners to 10% by 2010.
