Yeah boy those were the days when Garage was the most sexiest music on planet earth.

What can I say, it some how took a big dive in late 2000, and the rest is history.

The tunes that are emerging now from the FWD scene are good, but seem one sided, and appeal mostly to males. The Garage of yesteryear appealed to males and females far more.

The technological revolution changed the sound alot, 5 years ago, you needed £5000 for studio, and now you need a powerful Pc. You can't predict how a scene is going to go, it just happens.

The last tune posted up by Tempo, is the heviest, out of the lot, many nights were spent in Coleseum(Vauxhall), jamming to that tune.

The Garage scene of yesteryear, was fantastic and full of energy. Everyone wanted a piece of the Garage scene, even my elder brother and sister, who didn't really feel dance music too tuff.

What I hate most about todays Garage is not the Big basslines, the non vocals, or 8-Bar, but the Mc's who chat armshouse lyrics, in a scene that is meant to make you forget about your problems, and just enjoy yourself. You cannot have a proper rave when people are talking gun and fight talk, instead of raving people are looking at the stage, trying to listen to an Mc's lyrics. Mc's need to turn to hosts, such as Dt, Psg, Creed and the like, who were there to make you enjoy yourself, and not make you concentrate about, what's happening on road.

Maybe I got it in for new skool Mcs(Missc), but I think their value in clubs and Aiya napa, is worthless. However they do have a place on Radio.

    My personal opinions.......................................... ..................

Believe the music aint sexy any more. You used to go clubbing to sip champers, get on some girls, dress up proper nice in trousers and shirts and gucci loafers and that, and just have good time with all your mates. Back in the day you knew the words to every tune that came on and so did everyone else. It was pure good vibes. I used to be a regular at cookies and cream, Caesars old kent rd if we was skint, colluseum, Camden palace, Gass etc.

Sadly it seems those days are gone. I hanvt been to a major event in ages. I cant stand 10 MC's screaming down a microphone at the same time, talking how "mans is gonna get slewed" etc. Leave that to hip hop. Although most nu-skool MC's dont come close to hip hops lyrical standards.

I hardly listen to any new tunes apart from the occasional sticky tune, and breakbeat, but i dont consider that garage.

We need more tunes like the 2 step stuff. Anthill mob, Groove chronicals, rnb 2step mixes, stuff like that.

But what can be done to make it the way it was? How come this scene died? It was going strong, getting recognised around the country (I remeber when you didnt hear garage outside of london), then suddenly it was gone!

Yeah ive got most of these in my box too. Thats when i first started Dj'in (around 98/99). I Havnt bought a new garage tune for ages now, ive been buying old skool tunes i didnt buy when they first came out because there was so many good tunes to choose from! I remember when i'd go down the record shop and blow £200 on new tunes. Now im lucky if i spend a score at a time.

Those lyrics are heavy Mr Benji, a typical representation of the new-skool Mc, ................and they expect people to dance to that ?......................................

    theres more

boom, clap, snear, base "dont be scared of my race, ill put u in your place, smack u in the head and bruise your face, ill get rid of the evidence to leave no trace, your cru aint real your just a discrace,"

    what happened to creed

what we need to do peep's is change it for our self if u dont like grime dont listen to it but if u like 4/4 and vocal 2 step u got your influances from the old skool time to push things forward and start producing our own quality tunes that we like some1 must no some 1 who can sing for a vocal!!!!

maybe there should be a compition on for the best vocal tunes on this forum so producers can promote there stuff on this site.

Big up Tempo and dj silo

Dem na know about are you sleeping

Those were the days when there was no les than 10 clubs, on a Friday or Saturday, playing Garage, as their main attraction.

    They include:

    1. Club Coliseum(Liberty)
    2. Andrenalin Village(Suncity)
    3. SW1 Club(Pure Silk)
    4. Bass Club(Cookies and Cream)
    5. Leisure Lounge(Various promotions
    6. Chelsea Football Club(Stush)
    7. Vauxhall Arches(Various promotions)
    8. Gass Club(Usual promotions)
    9. Camden Palace(Experience)
    10. Club UN or Aztec Lounge(Three Wishes)

We were true-ly spoilt for choice back then, and if you checked ITV page 363, teletext, you found tens of othere raves that were going on. In 1998 the mangnitude of Garage raves going on, was magnificant.

What are we left with now, Ministry oF Sound, the life boat for Garage.

    You know what, We f. u. c. k.e. d. up................................................
