4 me it's all about the production of the tracks .

In the UK they only now seem to be putting a lot more effort in polishing off the tracks as before a lot of it sounded v.waterey and tinny (Ex. Misteeq's lastest track Roll On sounds v.tinny and there's no warmth in the production @ all ) .

Maybe you need to delve a little bit deeper than "Misteeq" you must be able to come up with a name better than that?? i.e - Lynden David Hall??? Accent, YES. Look at Craig David. Perfect example. Blows up and shifs straight to the US and we havent seen ANYTHING from him since! VEX!!!!!!!!!!

live musical element. where's the UK equivalent to the US's Philly Scene?

Craig David's album is barely better than average in terms of overall R'n'B in my opinion. i bigged him up here in the US because he also repped UKG....but when compared to crooners like Brian McKnight, or Joe, or Donell Jones.....he's got some work to do. Ladies loved his skin tone and his accent. More power to him i guess.....i'd take it if i could get it too.

there's plenty of mediocre r'n'b here on this side of the pond though too. See ---> J-Lo. what i've been exposed to from the UK side.....Misteeq and the like is mediocre. I do feel Lynden David Hall though.

    production defintely.

UK don't have a Timberland, Dre or Dupri who can make a club- banger. i.e "Get your freak on" "Truth hurts"

The production is too amaturish in the U.K

"The production is too amaturish in the U.K" OOOOH HAAARSH!!!
Not a nice statement to say! There are PLENTY of good producers this side of the pond:

i.e - Ignorants, Blacksmith, D-Influence, Mushtaq all have their flavours! Artists like Hilary from Hill St Soul are representing too! I have heard some of the best production come from England.

Clue: See whats out there before you diss da UK mayn! TRUST ME, if you look hard enough you'll be surprised!

    I agree bro !!

I've Been listening to UK R'n'B for yrs now and it's either two things that's wrong with it .

The overall track when finished seems v.weak compared to it's US counterparts or the UK producers do wishy wash wannabe version of Timberland,Trackmasters production and don't come up with nuttin original @ all !!.

Seem's like a lot of the UK producers are too much in awe of the US guys i think !! .

Ignorants - Wannbe Timberland / Neptune's producers but have made one or two bangers (eg. K-CI and Jo Jo RMX of All My Life)

Full Crew - Just as bad as the Ignorants !!

Rishi Rich - His productions to me sound too tiny and unfinishhed !!

Blacksmith - Wannabe Trackmasters / Puffy sound (only thing he does different is that remake the whole track with insturments instead of samples !!)

D'Influence and Hill St. Soul ( i love Feel Good Factor !!) are good and Mustaq (he has a wicked funky style to him) has a lot of promise. Some of the UK Rap stuff is brill as well .

Sometimes i hear a good UK track and think it's been made in the US but when i find the truth - i'm well shocked !!

Don't get me wrong if a production (UK or not) is good i will rate it but most UK productions would get laughed @ in the US as the are 2nd rate versions of the stuff they (US guys) originally produced !!.

I could name you more names if u want (and you don't want me too - trust !!)

Craig David and LDH are the ones that have gone against the grain and done well !! .

i've heard a few good Full Crew mixes, and a few good blacksmith mixes.....and D'Influence mixes as well. but i've also heard just as many mediocre at best.

in my opinion the UK needs a solid producer that's at least 85% proficient as Rodney Jerkins. Daaaarrrrrkkkkcchiiiilllld!

Yeah one or two of Full Crew's and Blacksmith's tracks have been good - but they lack the consistency .

And most tymes they do rip off U.S. productions in there tracks or RMX's .

I agree that the UK needs an out and out heavy R'n'B producer .

...............gimmie a few more yrs of learning how to make beats and i might b the one .

there will be bare rnb singers coming through cos i tink its gettin bigger bit by bit...we do have good singers except dey follow da same flow...look at beverly knight she's been around for time but where was she for sometime...underground?bankrupt? u get its madness i tink we have have got some heavy rnb artists in the peeps dat sing over some of the garage tracks we here...such as celetia, romina johnson...etc..dey jst need da material u get me...and da production. And we have rnb artists excepet the swing more towards soul music than to da rnb style

Beverley Knight has been around since 94-95 onwards on an independant label and her debut track Flavour Of The Old Skool blew up UK club dancefloors when it came out !!
