    Sidewinder update:

Got this in an email today, next event looks good!!...

Firstly we would like to apologise for the Valentines Showcase having to be cancelled on Saturday 15th February 2003. We apologise to all our customers for the short notice. The event was officially cancelled on Thursday 13th February 2003 at 6.30 pm. Sidewinder did everything physically possible to notify people of the cancellation ie by text messages, emails, radio news and notifying all outlets to stop selling tickets. This proved to be very successful with only a hand full of people turning upto the event, however we hope to God that this never happens again.

The Valentines Showcase was a big turning point for the UK Garage scene, it was a big gamble but also for the best. The response we received for this event proved to be massive which makes it even more disappointing. At the stage the event was cancelled the entire Sanctuary production and outside security procedures had been erected, therefore the consequential losses Sidewinder has encountered has been very damaging, so therefore we again ask you for your continual support for the future and better times to get through this point in time.

The Valentines event was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances relative specifically to the particular date of the event. The wellbeing of our audience has always and will continue to be a priority to The Sanctuary and Sidewinder. Therefore Sidewinder shall continue to hold UK Garage events at the Sanctuary Music Arena. Ticket holders from this event may have a full refund by returning the ticket to their ticket outlet. If you booked a hotel and/or a mini bus, train ticket or limousine for the Valentines event and have lost your deposit, please send a copy to Sidewinder PO Box 6466, Towcester, NN12 8YW with full details and your contact address and telephone number in order that we can compensate you in some way. However, tickets for this cancelled event will be valid for the next Sidewinder UK Garage 4th Birthday event at The Sanctuary Music Arena on Saturday 12th April 2003 when they will be deemed to be VIP tickets. As a special PAYBACK for all those disappointed people from the Valentines event, Sidewinder is offering to give every person entering the April event an exclusive Pay Back Martin Larner cd worth £10.00 (only available at this event). Also on the night we are offering to give away 2 Tickets to the sell out Eninem Concert on Saturday 21st June 2003 @ the Bowl, Milton Keynes. To enter this you must fill in your name and address on the back of the ticket stub on entering the event. There will be one lucky winner drawn out of a hat on stage at 3am, so if you want to win please make sure you are in the main arena to collect your prize otherwise the next stub drawn will win. Sidewinder will also be giving away free horns and whistles on the night and also the infamous Social Circles record label shall be giving away their latest releases.

Sidewinder will be celebrating four very successful years on Saturday 12th April @ Sanctuary Milton Keynes in conjunction with Club Liberty’s 5th Birthday with a similar Valentines Showcase line up of the leading UK Garage artists you expect from a Sidewinder event. Sidewinder has grown from strength to strength in such a short time. This has only happened due to your support, support from the artists, support from the Industries media and a dedicated team at Sidewinder HQ. Thank you everybody, we hope we all can make the UK Garage scene bigger and better!!!

We are continually working to make our events as safe and enjoyable as possible, so if you like causing trouble then Sidewinder is not the place for you!!!!!!!!

Or in other words: book all the old DJs who don't give a $$$$ anymore. They need to SORT that lineup.

Where are: J da Flex, Zed Bias, Hatcha, Rossi & Luca, Heartless etc etc.

This is hardly pusing the scene forward.

No offence but in order to change Sidewinder they need to bring back the ladies and the good vibes.

If you put Hatcha, Jay Da Flex, Zed Bias + others on you won't even get a typical screwface Sidewinder, you'd get an EMPTY Sidewinder.

So big up the lineup there hope they play a viberous selection.

maybe if you intergrate a few of these other ppl into the event they will be able to strut there stuff ppl here them on the tape pack etc etc all they need is a chance .

not saying book all of them but one or 2 of them to do early sets what ever the place may not be rammed but its a chance for new talent to break thru and if they get on a tape pack then ppl get to hear them there .

also you lot left off heartless they attract bare gals !!

    as diablo said

I heard a rumour that they have been banned from performing @ the Sanctuary !! .

    Dunno y tho' .

Also i have to agree with Trilla on his comments .

But aint they asking for trouble with Jon E Cash and Slimzee playing down there ??. As you'll get the usual idiots who don't how to behave going there just to cause aggy on there sets?? .

you can go to a normal first leisure club for example that eros you get more trouble down there for instance then you do in a garage night its jus publicised more so let them do there job and if ya dont like what there doing dont go or dont know what there doing then get to KNOW !!

Yeah but the only tyme i've seen trouble start @ Sidewinder is when Slimzee etc do there sets down there.

Now this aint ther fault that the idiots don't behave when they r doing there sets - but it is sad but tru that they do attract a bad following who don't really care about n e thing else but to start trouble.

When the other DJ's come on hardly n e trouble happens from what i've seen .

Agree totally wiv Trilogy about them having to bring back the good vibes. I personally don't like Sidewinder because the music is too dark and MC-orientated. I appreciate you need to cater for everyones taste in music so bringing up music for the "girlies" is a good way to go, I think.

Agree about Heartless too. They bring in the women don't they?

Also, anyone know what tunes Social Circles will be giving away as their latest releases?

heartless are doing more of there own events, trying to get the vibes back!

all the forward dj's have there own night, they can stick to that! slimzee won't attract much trouble cause he won't have his crew of mc's wit him! he is doing the last set i think too

hlc are banned from even entering the sanctuary according to the club manager, but the problems arose at the last sidewinder because the security duties were shared with the promotion team and the club team.

Crackfool, do you think that I was suggesting that as a full line up?

I was simply making the point that booking the DJs that Sidewinder have is not a forward step, and will not bring back "the old vibes" because those DJs have nothing new to offer, and people just aren't into that whole thing anymore: it's OUT OF DATE. I'm not saying book all the crews etc, but give the DJs who are pushing the quality new sound a chance. By all means book Masterstepz or whichever jokers to get the crowds in, but some of the new talent should be supported. That is the duty of the promoter to the scene: to prove he's not just a money-grabbing chancer.
