Race Discrimination Within Underground Music...

I have seen athread on another forum advertising a rave and the person who posted the thread entitled it:

"calling all asian ravers"

The rave has an ALL asian line up aswell...

I think this is racist discrimination at its worst in music...

How the hell can some1 say this ???

Music doesnt hold colour... All our blood is RED...

Im white and if i put 2geva a full line up of white djs and mcs then called out saying listen up all white people come to my rave... i would be branded as NAZI SCUM...

Whats peoples views on this ? Coz it really got to me ...

We're trying to break down some of those race barriers here in the US, where it's more white vs. black events/clubs. Just last weekend, we had a promoter explain that the two rooms of the club had separate entrances to "keep the races separate". Patrons were not permitted to move between the rooms.

(Which is odd, because our crew is half-black, half-white, and I play some of the same music as the black guys upstairs did -- but whatever.)

Ignorance will always be out there -- just push forward and represent a different attitude. The right people will find your events, and the broke-ass people who want to discriminate will stay away.

that thread was for a bhangra rave, and bhangra is 99% asian following...
remember the big campaign for 1xtra to get rid of its "black music"
banner.... that didnt get anywhere tho.. so well have to live with it

i mean it's the same with smoove = black and "saturdays" = white at mos

nothing wrong with it at all. it's just the stereotypical race associated with a musical genre. doesn't mean any disqualification. i mean i go to smoove and fell like the only white person there. doesn't mean i don't have a fun time and appreciate the vybe
