Comments:

Mark One has been around for quite sometime now producing and remixing various tunes. But it seems recently that the Manchester man Mark is rapidly growing as one of UK Garage’s most hard hitting producers. He has recently been nominated for the Sidewinder Peoples Choice “Best Grimey Producer” and also featured with his crew Virus Syndicate on the latest Sidewinder packs bonus CD. Life Support has been smashed by all big forward DJs and Rinse FM boys such as Slimzee, Hatcha, and Plasticman etc. The track is based on a very clever idea which involves a life support machines “beep” sample and is programmed to sound like a cardiac arrest is occurring. The track then drops into mark Ones infamous dark drums and warped bass but 8 bars later when you think the track cant get any darker, the track switches up and introduces snappy snares, light vocal sample cuts, an energy packed bass and a over all more up-tempo feel. The Bomb samples from MC Goldfinger from Virus Syndicates “virus sound bomb” lyric and has hard hitting drums, bouncy warbling bassline and the same bass sound from Hard Graft is thrown in for good measure. This is one serious piece of plastic and Mark One is another producer who ensures the people get there moneys worth by slamming two massive tracks on the same vinyl. Mark One is also definitely a producer who seems to be pushing the limits of UK Garage and isn’t afraid of experimenting with new and unique sounds. I’m sure myself and many others are definitely looking forward to see what Mark has to offer in 2004 and it is about time the Virus Syndicate soared through the ranks to hold status as one of the best UKG crews on road.
