I think it's only fair I start this with an apology to everyone that attended last night (be it the peepz inside or the people that coudn't get in), apologies from all of the Filthy promoting team. I might as well give ya the full unedited story of last night:
Basically last night there were 2 cops fresh from the academy working their first big nights on the job (they were the ONLY cops in that area...what the $$$$?anyway). It was common knowledge apparently to all the club bosses around Croydon that they were looking for their first nicks (and guess what they got one, some of you may have witnessed this...I thought it was a little OTT...i'll come to that later). But anyway around half 11 the cops told the club boss of One92One he was a little concerned about the peepz all going into the club, que the bouncers getting over harsh on letting people in (but they were still letting people in in dribs and drabs). The peepz who run the club also said they didn't think it was a very good atmosphere downstairs (ie he thought it would have all kicked off) so this made them obviously worry more about the police etc. So anyway as it drew closer to 12 the cops got over prang about all the people waiting outside the club looking thugged out....again I personally didnt see anyone who looked like trouble makers or were acting threatening, people were just queing up! So they told the club they were callin the Licensing officer of Croydon Council down...he came down...told the club of his disapprovement of the clientel waiting outside, next thing you know the club lock the doors around 12 coz they got threatened with loosing their license. Anyway que the police arresting a 'certain' person and going well over the top, this in turn resulted in a full meat wagon coming down and the rave getting locked an hour early.
Now I can't personally blame the club boss coz he has to maintain his license, plus we have a really good relationship with him...however I do not believe the bouncers were right in their assessment that there was a bad atmosphere downstairs. The club management were clearly swayed by info they were receiving from their security.
Now I would just like to ask a few questions-
Was there a bad atmosphere downstairs? no
Were there any fights or incidents of bad attitude at the last filthy or last nights? no
Were the people outside conducting themselves in a normal fashion? yes
Is Croydon a $$$$ing $$$$ hole where they get prang if they see more than 2 black guys at any one time? yes
Were the bouncers wrong in their assessment of the vibe? yes
Are bouncers always wrong? hell yeah
Were the police officers working that night the main reason it got locked coz they're $$$$ing $$$$$ holes?
Do I even need to answer the last question?
Again apologies for last night...it clearly showed us Croydon just aint ready for our kind of night on that kind of scale. We will definitely be looking at other venues possibly in Brixton. Im really sorry all you guys that attended that didn't get to see Slimzee and NdoubleA. Apologies to all the people who travelled from far just to come to the night and all the peepz that were on the guestlist like some of Slims guests, who weren't allowed in. Last night made us as a promotion look like a bunch of assholes and it deprived you lot of an enjoyable nights bubbling....trust we will make amends...this aint the end of Filthy...its been a learning experience that will make future events bigger and better.
