Default Are 1xtra UKG DJs representing the best of UKG or jus tryna replace da pirate market!

I was listenin to 1xtras Richie Vee show, trying to catch up on any UKG I may have "missed", while I was typing my work, on the PCs at uni, and my friend could overhear it playing; hear him now:

"I dunno how u can listen to 'Dance & Techno' man."

    - "WHAT? Oh. LOL Its Garage"

    <<NO LIE>>

Then I had to tell him how I dont like it anymore and how I was jus seeing what its got like this week etc etc.

Anyway! I myself was shocked at 1xtras DJs playlist!

Are they representin the best UKG out their on 1xtra - a world stage for UKG.

U think theyre playing both sides of UKG or jus trying to step on the pirate market?

Well I was shocked by what they were playing given that none of them are 15 year old DJs who idolise Slimzee. I didnt think they'd be INTO half the stuff they play, and Richie Vees top 10 is crazy.

Do they play the best tunes out there? I think Mat Jam is the best at representing any decent tunes around at the moment. 1xtra DJs jus play what the pirates play - except they should know better.

man, is carnage/Duke/Nthing/Joe/any other haters Ive developed gonna gun me but it actually happened. I'll yawn in advance of your gunning.

    interesting topic!

i listen to j da flex on there

personaly i think its wicked. being radio 1 and being all legit i think its alot different, usually they play newish stuff rather then oldskool.

i dont even think there allowed to mix for the whole show either. i think it puts garage on a more posotive path.

there will always be the underground side of garage and it cant b replaced

J Da Flex represents with the underground sounds - Richie Vee tends to play a decent selection, though your points taken - I believe his chart is based on sales in the record shop he works in, therefore - more vocal tracks are getting left out due to poor sales in the "Real Garage" department.

    yes danny g,
the idea *shud be* to put it on a more positive path. the dnb show represents (the quality of the dnb scene), the dancehall show, the hiphop show - same, etc, but what the ukg djs play, I ashamed to tell ppl its ukg, like today, or have to explain the long ting about how it changed.

I gunned mats show once cos he played one or two tunes I didnt like but apart from that, his show is actually listenable and he mixes old with new, as long as it has dutty vibe.

I think 1xtra aint doing nuttin good for ukg. I listened to Richie Vee at uni - lucky they had 5min skip button - until I cudnt put up with noise and flipped to dancehall splurt. thats all i listen to on 1xtra.

u heard the stuff that femme fatale plays? Woah. About girls love vocal tunes...

oh seen. I thought he jus made up a peer-pressured "I'll be popular if I make this my chart" chart on the spot illy: OK, if thats whats actually sellin then I cant say schittttttt.

By the way, my friend who thought I was lisnin to Dance & Techno - he likes flippin Papa Roach/Manson Goth HardNuRock music, so thats saying suttin!

karl 'tuff enuff' brown was on the blue printl last friday or the week be4, richie's show is about the whole spectrum of u.k.g, from the sales which make up the chart to the guests which have included, roll deep, m.j cole, viper, karl brown etc, richie vee's blue print is about u.k.g on a whole not curtain elements but in general, where as jay da flex's show is about the darker side of u.k.g

Andy C should have been the main Jungle DJ on 1xtra, Karl Brown for UKG.

    Femme Fatale? C'mon...

The charts is developed from about 10 record shops around the country. All 3 garage djs play a different selection. Richie covers all types of garage, jay is underground and femme is vocal and old skool. It would be pointless them all playing the same.

Its like the hip hop shows, 1 covers US mainly, 1 covers UK and underground hip hop, while another covers a bit of both.

Femme is not vocal and old school...her selection is far too dark and dirty.

AG truss me J da Flex will not be ya cup of cha, he plays a lot of underground stuff, no soul, vibe vee plays most of the softer side of things, well as soft as it gets in 2days UKG.
Matt Jam should be on or Karl Brown
did anyone here the basement with Ruff Cut lloyd, that was quality

we need to get on there!

    The hiphop DJs do: US/UK/World/Independant...

But 1xtra, being clueless to what UKG is, and jus riding this "urban" thing for the money to be made, dont understand the diversity of UKG. They got 3 UKG Djs playin the same playlist. Femme fatale...I swear she aint even for real, she mus shop for records in dustbins.

The station is OK but they play a sackload of shít, and not as a way of filling out the show, Femme Fatale is playing it, bigging it up, and the stuff is just terrible!

I think right about now Matt Jam is smacking it, the selection is consistently good, and its a big improvement from about 6 months ago!

I don't love a set full of dark flavas, I think I need to get some angst thing going on
