Default A 4by4 related question (sort of)

Now my question relates back to 4 by 4. Obviously this was a tremendous success for EZ and all involved and it was also a positive step in bringing some much needed vibes back. Now I guess that there was about 1500 peeps there all really enjoying the event and the 4/4 flavas.

My question is, if there was that many people there that love these sounds (and I bet a massive amount of punters were DJ's) are they buying the nice 4/4 cuts that are out there??

My suspicion would be NO, as its probably only the Qualifides, El Tuff's that are selling in the 1000's (if that?) as I know through experience through my own 12's and some friends releases that this stuff isn't being bought.

So are you a 4/4 (or just general funky vibes) lover and if so are you actually buying the stuff??????????????????

i just buy what i like, be it 4/4, grime etc, if i hear a nice 4/4 vocal i'll buy, no matta if its selling well or not, same as grime, but i'll only buy it if i like it, I hate "i love u" and i didn't buy it even tho it was "massive"

You have to remember that not everyone that attended the event is a DJ or vinyl buyer...

i WE GOTTA REMEMBER THAN DJS WHO PLAY OUT CANT ALWAYS BUY WHAT THEY LIKE. THEY HAVE TO PLAY WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR, WHICH IS NOT NECCESARILY 4/4

I understand points about everyone there not being a DJ/Vinyl buyer. I understand all the points on here, however my point is some good quality 4/4 ain't even selling 300 copies and thats a crying shame however you look at it!!!

due 2 the lack of poor quality tunes in 2002 i concerntrated on building up my back cataloge of oldskool. i refuse to pay 8 quid for some crap that i will play for a couple of weeks.

i dont just buy 4/4 but i will buy a decent production. lets hope 2003 sees lots more of them!

i wouldnt play a tune i didnt like for a crowd!

No Qualifides or El Tuff tracks sell anywhere near 1000 on the whole, the problem is that the whole 4/4 revival thing is still very early on, a record released now could flop whereas it could potentially suceed 6 months down the line if the market is there. Something needs to break it, a really decent new 4/4 track reflecting these kinda vibes.

to be honest though the night on a whole was mainly dedicated to 4/4 oldschool, due to the fact that you couldnt do a night soley playing new 4/4 coz there just enough.

It's all about supply and demand, and punters want 8-bar and bassline tunes, simple. It will take 4*4, 3 years to regain controll of the dancefloor. It has never become so easy to make tunes, this is why there is so much bassline tracks, with no soul. The majority of new skool producers, will produce breakbeats, due to lack of vocalists and quality recording equipment.
