Default Yikes

The only time the words "Thought Provoking" and Nickelback should collide in a sentence is when contemplating how they are still allowed to be playing music. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, nevertheless Nickelback is a band that left their musical ambition and integrity sitting at home on the couch watching The View.

Well thats your opinion, but i think the video and song are inspirational and ''thought provoking''

People should give them a chance. Some people just make up there minds before even listening to the songs.

but one thing can be agreed on,giving profits to charity is a respectable thing to do.

I admittedly own the first two Nickelback albums. I have heard plenty to know I am not missing anything. Their first album is the only one that shows a hint of innovation (I use that term very loosely) and desire to find their own musical voice. After Silver Side Up and "How You Remind Me" it was all downhill. They felt content to mail in top 40 hit after top 40 hit. With no ambition to further their boundaries of musical style.

I did watch the video and gave the song a close listen. It was a little more socialy aware then I expected from the lamefest "Rockers" however just because you put medicore ABC family lyrics over musical mush doesn't qualify as anything other then washed out, same old, tired, pop/rock.

I do know that the lyrics are very direct and simple but the fact is,that's why Nickelback fans like Nickelback (and why haters hate Nickelback) , i like it , because its straight to the point and seems like its a guy saying what he feels, with no bull$$$$.You also argued that they never try to further their boundaries of musical style But for me,Nickelback are improving with every album.Silver Side Up wasn't the first album NB had,They had Curb and The State before that and they have vastly improved and stretched themselves from then to now.

At least you gave it a try and listened to it.Unlike many others.

Not only are the lyrics simple so is the song writing and arrangement. You may like them because of the simple and direct factor, but that is not why people hate Nickelback. They hate them because they have some how managed to release a different versions of the same song about 18 times over. Just a heads up, another word for simple and direct could be best summed up with the term "Generic" lyrics that show no imagination or creativity.

With this I am sorry to hear. I have no background on the rest of your musical taste, but with a comment like that I have to believe you can't smell the poo when you are standing waist deep, or maybe you can't tell the difference.

The only album that they vaguely captured their own sound on was 2000's The State even then it was one hell of a Bush rip off. If I closed my eyes and couldn't see his golden locks I could mistake him for Gavin Rossdale. Every album that followed featured pre-packed radio hit after pre-packed radio hit.

I am well aware Siver Side Up was not their first album. I bought it reluctantly after mildly enjoying The State. I will concede the fact I forgot about the Crub album. And that it predated the rest. Even tho I never saw it available in a music store till after they hit it big.

“

For a band that has "vastly improved" their sound does not seem much different on this current offering then when I last heard them whaling about Someday, Someday. I hear the same soft verus, slightly louder chours. I hear the same back beat on the drums, I hear the same slightly raspy voice with the ocasional echo effect to woo the ladies. And most importantly I still hear the same defult guitar part chuging along at an awful midtempo pace.

As i have said. They have improved and stretched themselves (In my opinion). The introduction of piano in songs like ''If Everyone Cared'' and ''Savin' Me'' are something back in Silver Side Up days where unthinkable as Chad openly said they used to be very closed minded and to believed that Pianos and Strings (songs, Believe It or Not,Should've Listened etc.) Did'nt belong in Rock songs. But they've changed.

And so what they sound like other bands.Dosent mean they are bad.You say they don't have there own sound.I would disagree,Those gravelly, emotion filled vocals of Chad Kroeger to the beautiful back up vocals of Ryan Peake to the insane drumming of the best drummer going today Daniel Adair. And nobody in my opinion can maintain a emotion filled and moving guitar solo like Nickelback.

But lets face it, you like the others who stand in awe at the fact that Nickelback was the most successful rock band of 2006,you guys just don't get it.But it seems they will never get an inkling of respect from these haters.

And the remark of me not standing in the poo...............
Well,i have read 1000's of views like yours and although i agree with some of your points,i stiil think Nickelback is the best Rock band going today.

The Beatles
put an end to that line of thinking with the song Eleanor Rigby oh some 41 years ago.

I am glad it took them this long in their musical career to reach that level of maturity. And just becuase they add new instruments doesn't incresses the quality of the music.

First off I must say this is man crushing at its finest. Second I am going to hit you with a few names that negate these outlandish claims.

As I alread pointed out Kroeger is a dollor store knock off of Gavin Rossdale's vocal styling.

Here are a few gentelman who bang the skins at a lot higher caliber.

Lars Ulrich (Metallica)
Dave Grohl (Who no longer even plays the drums in his current band the Foo Fighters)
Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
Jose Pasillas (Incubus)

Just to name a few, the list could go on.

If we are going to start equating $$$ amount to quality then hell Justin Timberlake rules all. I don't give a $$$$ how successful a band is when disscussing monatary means.

Man Crushing Continued

I would like to thank you for make the most rediculos statement of 2007 thus far, how does it feel?

Here are a few bands that are heads and shoulders, leaps and bounds superior to Nickelback:

Incubus
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Queens of the Stone Age
Mars Volta
Foo Fighters
Clutch
System of a Down
Pearl Jam

All these bands showcase what a true Rock band should sound like. Take that home and chew on it for awhile, see how it tastes.

Well thats your opinion.I completely disagree.

I respect the hell out of Foo Fighters. And I could start knocking down Red Hot chilli peppers but if thats what you like then fine. (I respect others opinions, unlike you)

If you don't like them fine. But they deserve respect.its an awesome song.Awesome video.
