LOL, alternative doesn't always mean hardcore.

And dismissing whole genres like that just makes you look uncultured.

They ARE uncultured.

The threads in this forum are pathetic. "We don't know what Alternative means, so lets talk about Alternative subjects."

You don't see people going on about "I don't know what Garage music is so lets talk about the building off the side of the house that I park my ride in."

Their horizons stop at the word urban. And I bet 50% of this lot at least have at one point or another been through a rock/metal/punk/indie/whatever phase or like the music anyway. Got to keep up that badman image. Fools.

Yeah but it works both ways. I know a load of people who are into 'alternative', who are just as narrow-minded as your average young 'urban' listener.

"Oh I wouldn't be seen dead listening to that rap $$$$$$$s, I prefer Radiohead." These people might claim that their music is more intelligent, but it doesn't make them any less ignorant.

Why should music have any bearing on how you dress/talk/act/perceive the world?

Unanswered question, but nothing will change the way it affects how people see you.

I understand that it works both ways, but I sense much more arrogance and ignorance from urban listeners who aren't very musically open minded.

There's people who listen to nothing but Frank Sinatra and would tell you that anything else is wank, but they're less inclined to want to go on an internet forum and slag off the works of Oasis, you know what I mean?

I see where you're coming from.

But with HipHop and Garage etc comes a 'bigger and badder' attitude, which is why they come across so much more ignorant to other musical genres.

No one on this site is uncultured they just have opinions.

If you lot have a complaint about the subjects on here then why dont you make some?

just because I don't like rock doesn't mean I haven't listened to any....
