| have you ever been able to record audio with Cubase or is this a new problem? I'm really not up on PC ASIO settings...best to wait for one of the PC headz to help you out (which is why i was asking about the manual...) |

| A few questions:
1) Are you recording from an external source like a synth or sound module? Or are you recording a VSTi intrument?
2) Have activated any of the VST Inputs from the VST Inputs panel? Look in the Panels menu if you have the latest version of Cubase.
3) When you're recording to an audio track make sure you have selected the correct input from the inspector window. Hold down the Ctrl key and click on the input button. A list will appear (depending on how many input sources you have selected), it should say IN 1 L, IN 1 R, IN 2 L, IN 2 R, etc. You can also do this from the VST mixer window (hold down Ctrl and +). |

| ASIO mother$$$$er
Check your settings. If your sequencer is not setup to cater for your soundcards spec then it will not allow you to do all the things that your card can do. Sequencers usually (when setup correctly with correct ASIO suppoert for soundcard) will set out the various types of track and number of tracks depending on the card it thinks youve got.
If you cant get it to work then take it to the shop where you got VST or Soundblaster and ask/tell/wrestle them into setting it up for you. Or just phone & ask. |

I don't much about the Soundblaster Live but at least one of those inputs should be activated (green light on). |
