I use Peak on the Mac a lot...there's probably better ones...I just don't have 'em

Um...wavelab or soundforge on the PC should have a timestretch function...

I've been using Prosoniq's Time Factory for my time stretching needs. It has the best time stretch algo IMO. The same algo (MPEX i think) used by Steinberg's Nuendo. Wavelab's algo is crap. I was hoping they changed it with the Wavelab 4 update. Soundforge's algo is better than Wavelab IMO.

lol - pitched it up on sound forge to about 131bpm - no longer do they sound like Liberty X - more like Alvin, Simon and Theodore !

I think i'll just produce a dirty dub mix.

Sound Forge 5.0

the original tempo of Liberty X is 103 bpm if that helps

it also helps if you do this:

click on "Preserve original key" if you just want the time duration compressed. (and if you have that option)

i have preserve original length (time) but that makes it even worse !!

to do it properly i suppose it's all about shortening the gaps in between each spoken word, but that would take ages on such a long accapella.

I had the idea of cutting words out of the tune, and pasting them together to make different vocal hooks !!!

I came up with

"Just a little sex... oh yeaaah"

sounds jokes trust me

I use serato pitch 'n' time 2 on audiosuite, it's unbeleivable for preserving formants etc and has all sorts of little options.

Fat Zed has it nailed; Go on tell em how much it costs ;-)

I quite like the grainy sounds I get from obviously stretched stuff done in VST or Time Bandit - quite poor quality at the best. If you do use one of these don't expect the highest quality. For big shifts - like 50% and more try doing the shift in steps and experiment with "formant mode". Also for vocals try some steep shelving EQ and chop off anything under 120 Hz before you pitch/stretch up.

Editing the vocal to get it on beat is a hassle and depending on the vocal doesn't always work. Subtle variations and vibratos etc need to be in time for that I tend to sacrifice quality.

Food

P.S. Anyone like the VP9000 for this?

you're right about the 120hz chop, some software seems to do it for you though.

You can have great fun slicing up vocals with recycle and then playing the different slices from your sampler via a keyboard.........

great its rearranging sentences for......................
