| Karlette emulates the old time tape delay machines. It's a bit complicated to explain how it works but back in the old days they used multiple head tape machine to create delay/echo effects. This plug-in re-creates that effect.
UV22 is a digital dithering plug-in. You'll find it on the master effects channel. I think you use it if you've created a 32 or 24 bit track and you're mixing down to a 16 bit track, say for cd. Apparently it reduces the amount of noise created when you master from a higher bit value down to 16 bit.
I think VB-1 is another drum machine but I could be wrong.
Have you tried the Vocoder? It's da bomb. You should try using it on some vocals. |

| The Vocoder is only available with the latest working version of VST for the PC, which is 5.1. You get a couple of other free effect plugins aswell.
You want to try downloading the update from Steinberg...unless your using a cracked copy |

| In your VST plugin folder you should have another folder called 'other'. And in that folder you should find:-
Mysterizer.dll
Subass.dll
Vocoder.dll |

| A vocoder is an effect developed originally by the american telecomunications company "Bell Laboratories" during the 1950s. It stands for VOice enCOder-decoDER. It was intended to make long distance calls more manageable by reducing the required amount of information for transmition.
It is a process that works with two halves. Two signals are fed into the vocoder (or sometimes one is created by the vocoder). The first signal is usally a voice (microphone) and this is called a modulator signal. The second which is usually a synthesiser is called a carrier.
Each of these two signals are split into a number of frequency bands (like bass, mid and treble except usually well in excess of 20 different bands). The vocoder looks at how the volume changes over time in the modulator signal. It then imposes the same changes in volume over time onto the same frequency bands in the carrier signal.
Thus it manages to retain the pitch of the carrier signal while using the intonation of the modulator. Put in simple terms, it can allow you to blend together sounds in such a way as to make a synthesiser talk.
I hope that this is useful Paul. You know you can always rely on the king of MT................ |

| I'm not sure what you mean by "small dots" in your previous post.
Don't forget that the Vocoder effect only works on audio channels. When you bring up the vocoder control panel there's a list of presets. The first one in the list is Vocoder followed by:-
Spot FX
Smooth16
Bell Labs 1936
Talkbox
Vintage
Minimal
24 Band
Resonators
Breathy
7ths
Mood Pad
Airwaives
12 Band L/R Input
18 Band L/R Input
24 Band L/R Input
You can also control the vocoder by midi. create a midi track, then in the inspector window select the midi "output" box. In the list you should see Vocoder (C1/1). Select this and all the midi on the channel will be directed to the Vocoder. You can play in real-time or use pre-recorded midi data. |

| I'm trying it now and it works best if you're playing midi into it. |
