Default VST Plugins

What vst plugins does everyone here use? I have absynth and the edirol orchestral vst but that's about it. I've been wanting to get more into the hip hop genre but I can't always get the sounds I want.

Thanks

hey tempo... i didn't expect a reply so soon haha!

Do you have alot of experience editing patches and everything in absynth? I've only recently tried to really get into it but it seems a bit daunting.

Thanks for the list

not really, i dont use it that much, the sounds are bit too "dancey" for me if you know what i mean. I use a few presets now and then but thats it.

get something like v-station, the patches are easy to edit in there, you get total control over everything. think it uses 2 or 3 oscillators, you get portamento, LFO's etc etc etc fully customizable. V-station Bass patch 6 is good for hip hop, just drop it an octave and it sounds sweet! Ive tried it on my sub in my car and it rattles the windows!

Concerning basses, what tricks do you use to make sure the bass has a nice low end but is still audible at lower pitches?

two bass patches?

Yeah i normally use 2 seperate channels, one with a low end bass, and the other i use a sqaure or saw bass. Then layer them over each other.

I use: Battery, FM7, reFX Juno X2, Halion, Absynth, Solina and Waldorf Oxygen

I see you have a T-Racks compressor as your pic Tempo. I got that a little while ago and love it, it makes things sound sweet but i'm still after a full on external compressor...need money first though

T-RacKS does the job good enough for me. I only really use it for a pre-master. I'd love a hardware compresssor but its just not viable at the moment. I normally get stuff mastered elsewhere anyway, its better to use someones elses ears as you get too used to the track where youve obviously produced it.
