Never buy anything by behringer, it's all incredibly poor quality. Yes they are cheap but they will make anything you do sound $$$$ and they never last long.

What's similar to that mixer then? I don't do much actual mixing but would like the facility to be there. I'm looking for something with lots of inputs and outputs, but not many vinyl inputs. Also bass, treb & mid-range controls for each channel.

I was originally thinking of the Citronic Pro 10 but I'm not sure that's exactly suitable.

What exactly do you want to use it for. In that this is the recording studio forum, I presume you want a mixer for recording music rather than mixing decks?>?>?>?>?>?>?>?>?

Well yes basically. I don't really do a lot of mixing. I'm more insterested in having something that will give flexibility in terms of inputs and outputs (I don't wannt 17 vinyl inputs! 2 will suffice - I only have one deck at the moment anway!). I'd still like to have the cross-fade function there though, with the ability to assign any channel to either side, and the ability to test the cross-fade on the headphone socket first.

Not much to ask is it!
Budget? £250 max really.

Other than the Allen & Heath Series, I would never use a DJ Mixer to mix production material on...that's just...sacreligous!

Well it's not production in the sense of creating music (although maybe one day...). It's more transfer - radio to tape, MD to PC (MP3), PC to tape, vinyl to MD etc.

Hence the need for inputs and outputs, and anything you can record and playback on needs one of both!

oh, sure then...any old mixer will work...most of them have a line and phono on each channel anyway...some have 1 phono + several line ins per channel...for outputs, you can get RCAs, 1/4, XLR, optical, depending on the mixer...mostly RCAs though...
