Default Stero>>PC

I used to be able to connect my stero to my PC using a crude methon of a audio lead going from my headphone socket on the stero into the mic socket of my pc. That used to work fine. Then my PC went in for a bit of maintenance and when I got it back that method stopped working. Whats wrong? Anyone have a clue. Or suggest a good way to connect the two.

is there no audio out RCAs on your stereo?

That method that you're using should work.

Is your soundcard's mixer set properly to accept external signals?
