Default Sample CDs

I'm just in the process of making a sample CD for garage producers.

I just wanted a few opinions of what sort of stuff you'd like to see on one aside from the usual beats and B-linez.

I've managed to get juiceman to do a few little shouts and phrases and I'll be getting some sung phrases raga style from simba.

Let me know a few good ideas and there might be a free CD in it for you.....

FAT ZED THE ONE THING YOU NEVER SEEM TO FIND ON SAMPLE CD'S ARE THE LITTLE FX'S I.E YOU HAVE ALL THE BASIC THINGS IN THERE LIKE BEATS BASS MELODY VOCALS ETC ETC BACK YOU NEVER GET THEM LITTLE NOISES THAT JUST FILL IN AND FATTEN UP THE TRACK.

another UKG Sample CD would be nice....

I got the UEBERSCHELL one...

it's great for drum sounds but that's about it...some of the stuf on there is HORRID to say the least!!

the RAGGA chants would be a great Idea

a tip...

don't bother wit cheesy full length traks....it just a waste of space

and please state the BPM next to the samples

PS let me know when ur releasing it!!

Cymbal's on their own please. Agree about the bleepy noises bit. Also maybe some offkey atmos noises, as they never seem to be on CD's aswell. Another one is some decent tamborine/shaker loops. I wouldn't go overboard with the vocal samples though, as they get tired pretty quickly.

if the vocals are on there, just make them generic enough to be useful in several situations. No references to 2002 stylee or whatever...don't want to be too dated

Don't worry too much about effecting the sounds...well, maybe do to appeal to those without effects units...

Some nice pads would be sweet.

good point aguk...multisampled stuff would be nice.

"Analogue samples" is an oxymoron, but whatever

UKG drums tend(ed) to be more real sounding than electronic...

Some guitar riffs would be nice...spanish stylee/rnb stylee.

Some dub fx-x-x-x-x-x-x---x--x-x---x--x-x would be nice too

likkle scratches/rewinds, needle drops, etc.

yeah, for those of us without turntables, long scratch sequences would be very nice...good to have for hip hop/r&b....more instrument hits too...i'm tired of having to cut up all the loops i get off the net (yes i know i'm lazy)

Personally I would like too hear some atmospheric sounds, uplifting and dark.
I always seem to sample them from films and abstract soundtracks but rarely find any on sample CD's.

This whole sample cd thing "sounds" really good (I mean the idea)

but just outa couriosity what are you gunna do with this thing ???

I mean is there a demand for or are you just sortin out your friends...

there are a ton of drum sample cds out there already. athough I have yet to find a quality amout of base samples . How are you going to take the samples of the base every note or everyother note ?

fx would be nice to see to but there a ton of them on the market too.

ez

well, really you should multisample...for analogue instruments anyway...as sounds change in characteristic depending on pitch...

An A3 and an A5 sound completely different on a piano, for example.

Taking a sample of an A3 and pitching it up 2 octaves doesn't get it to sound like the A5

I will include multisamples. For bass sounds it is quite easy to include every whole tone as samples because they're only really going to be used over about an octave and a half. I'm hesitant to provide samples in all sorts of different formats (halion, gigasampler, akai, emu etc). I think it will be a WAV file only CD as well as an audio CD counterpart.
