Default REASON 2.0

13 March 2002
"Propellerhead Software, the Swedish company behind acclaimed products such as Reason, Recycle! and ReBirth today announced Reason 2.0, an upgrade to its popular flagship music software program."

Reason 2.0 features
Malström Graintable Synthesizer
NN-XT Advanced Sampler
and a...
Detachable Sequencer
Making Reason 2.0 the fkn heaviest piece of affordable production software. I know people who traded in their midi studio for Reason 1.01, but Reason 2.0!! THIS IS GUNNA BE BIG!

You can find out more on the Propellerheads site...

Tell me what you think, and for £69 (i think) its definitely worth it!

Yeah i checked out what propellerhead had to say, trust me I've got Reason right now, and I'm just waiting for version 2.0 to hit the streets.

But forget about that for a sec, Have u seen what steinberg are up to with Cubase??

They've got the follow up to 5.1 already Cubase SX and to make matters worse for me it doesnt run on win 98, it only runs on XP & 2000, screwing!!!!

And to add to salt into wounds its costs wong.....

I dont think I'll be upgarding for about a year and a half, trust me

Default Reason2 and SX

Always been a big fan of Reason and i'm glad that they had updated the sequencer window (detachable). The new sampler looks cool but dunno whether it'll read Akai format or support it. They indicated that it is bundled with some sort of conversion utility. Still, a lot of users are disappointed that VST plug-in support and midi out wasn't implemented, probably due to some sort of binding agreement with Steinberg and Rewire. But I for one will be lining up for the update as soon as it comes out. Now, Cubase users got it made with SX. The new Cubase SX is basically Steinberg's flagship sequencer, Nuendo. Same audio engine as Nuendo with the midi features of Cubase VST. That is awesome!!! I've been a Nuendo user for the last year and I find Nuendo's audio features to be spot on. Some say it's comparable to Pro Tools or even better. But I really don't wanna get into that sort of discussion. Hey, whatever works! We're expecting a big update for Nuendo this coming May. It'll be fun!!!

its all about logic and vsti's now. i started out with reason and still will use it for some things maybe, but i don't see myself getting 2.0. the sampler is the main reason. they needed to update that sampler in it to read Akai and Emu formatted discs as well as soundfonts like Halion does. regardless i am sure some people will find it usefull.

If they did that though Lady J, I'm sure the price would bump up considerably...they have the ability to do it - I mean, Propellerheads made ReCycle, which talks to countless synths...dunno if it'll read Akai/Roland/Emu formatted discs tho...never used it for that...

What VSTi's are you using now J?

Im using Reason, but when I buy 2.0 ill use it with Cubase aswell. Ive got 2000 which isn't a problem with the latest version of cubase as mentioned above.
