Default <<PRODUCTION ADVICE FOR A BEGINNER ?!>>

I wanna start getting into some production.

I have an Apple Mac G4 computer, but I'm pretty much lost on wot other things I need to start producing.

Wot would I need ? (Programs, Keyboards & Soundcards etc)

I think this is where I suggest an FAQ for this forum!!!!!!

Seriously though, I think the best thing you can do is go and see what other people are doing/using. For a sequencer, you options are cubase, digital performer, logic and a few others. You dont actually have to get a soundcard initially, you can use the built in one.

Read the magazines, keep trying hard and your wants will soon become apparent (and endless!!)

wot are the basic things you would recommend for a beginner ?

Would it be good to use Fruity Loops (other software) ?

Is Cubase the best on the market ?

Wot programs do you use for sampling ?

Do you recommend doing courses ?

Working very hard, trying to see as many people as possible doing their job well. Researching every magazine, website, journal etc. Experimenting. Learning from mistakes. patience.

Would it be good to use Fruity Loops (other software) ?

As far as I know floops isan't available on the mac. There isn't much between the sequencers. Try and find people who've got others and give them all a go and see which one suits you best.

Is Cubase the best on the market ?

For some users yes, for some users no. It has lots of features, but less is more sometimes. Different software suits different people.

Wot programs do you use for sampling ?

I use soft samplecell and hardware, there are lots out there, but again, there aint much between them.

Do you recommend doing courses ?

You might learn something from a course, but less than 1% of people who do music tech/sound engineering courses go on to work in a related discipline (producer, engineer etc). DO NOT EXPECT A JOB JUST BECAUSE YOU"VE DONE A COURSE!!! I've done a degree in Music and a masters degree in music tech and I learnt more and got further from my own learning, perseverance and trial and error than anyone's ever taught me. Music technology btecs/HNDs etc are largely there as a govornment tool to make someone go to college, learn key skills and keep unemployment figures looking healthier for a couple of years. If you are on a course, you are not unemployed and the govornment dont really care what you study, so they provide courses like these to attract more people to college and out of unemployment. There are over 100,000 people coming out of music tech course every year and you would be a fool to think that there are that many jobs out there as producers. Do one for your own enjoyment, but dont expect a job!!!!

Sorry to rant, but I hate to see people being dissolusioned.
