Default Pressed Up

Say I wanted a tune pressed up ... what do I have to do?

Mastering
then cutting
then distributing?

Anything I'm missing from the list?

Also, any idea on pricing is £160 mastering for an A and B side good?
and is 58p per 12" vinyl a good deal?

Finally, what's the average run of a garage tune? would 200 be too many for a small track?

Any help would be heavy, safe!

have a look at http://www.planetphatprod.co.uk/

Can't you master it yourself and save money? Then you can cut straight to vinyl then distibute.

Might be an idea to send CD copies out first to see what sort of response you get. e.g. Record shops, DJ's, radio stations.

If you get a good response, maybe a bit of radio play, then 500 is a good start. planetphat do packages for 500 runs.

promotion of your track is important, especially as it is not a good time for anyone on the scene at the mo. like tempo said its all about whether people are gonna play your track... or not

then i suppose the next biggest thing is distribution, making sure it gets to the right places.

with regard mastering and cutting all you can do is make sure you get the best deal... the best quality at a price you can afford.

big grin XARC mastering - good deal

i just had a tune mastered by Lorenz at Xarc - this guy does the business. He is really helpful and patient. good rates too. if u got a broadband connection this is the way to go hes in germany, i just ftp'ed my tune and had it back mastered within a day. I had a really over the top bass heavy breakbeat track, he got it eq'd flat (in a good way of course) im crossing my fingers but it should sound aright tonight, im testin it out a club. the mastered version totally sounded the same on different speakers, boomboxes, discman, etc.

these are their rates -
1 €49 EUR
2 to 4 €47 EUR
5 to 9 €45 EUR
10 to 15 €43 EUR
More than 15 €40 EUR

i won a free mastering so it got me under the gun to get a tune done but i can definitely recommend them very happy with the results
