PPL seem to use organs quite a lot in garage music. What does everyone here use for their organ sounds?

You would probably prefer the original,
but I allways go back to the Native Instruments B4.

Probably a little too soft for DJ Fat Zed though.

It might suprise you that it's one of the few things that I'm not quite so puritan about. I actually have an old hammond sitting in a mates barn but I've never really used it because it's too big even for me to consider being practical.

I usually use either a roland RS-09 or XV-3080 for organs but I'd like one of those clavia nord electro thingys. Has anyone given them a go at all??

You can't beat a real Hammy with lots of Leslie. I use a lo fi sounding sample from Emu's Vintage Keys that I really like. But what I'd like is the Emu B4 module - it's awesome the best emulation I've heard.

I find organ sounds a bit too clean and cheesy straight out of modules like the 1080 - they still have their place tho, the Emu B4 has some great lo-fi sounds with very convincing leslie, for really dark stab sounds I put my organ samples through a cheap compressor pedal and valve pre. I've been meaning to check out Mda Degrade and other such plugins to see what they can do for organ sounds, anyone else got tricks for mangling organs?

F

(don't try to mangle your organ kids)

nothing beats the chunk you get out a real Leslie for sure, but as for grungelizing your organ sounds, you can get a few Leslie simulators as effects...the newest Kurzweils have this really neat feature where you can run whatever sample/sound you want through their very impressive tonewheel emulator...nice for getting that Leslie sound on ANYTHING.

Hi Sen, you might remember me, I met you at the pub in Muswell Hill the day before that Breakbeat Connection night (also there) when you were in UK.
