big grin New to Reason - Need a midi keyboard which is good to learn piano

Hi, Just got reason and I need a good keyboard which is good for learning and playing traditional piano as well as a nice tool to get me started in music production - I've been looking at an M-Audio Ozonic for around £200, as that's around my budget - Can anyone offer any advice?

I'd stay away from the ozonic, they've got a really small keybed (number of keys). You'll probably find you don't get the range you need to play any sort of piano passage. I wound up trading my 49 key radium in for a larger keyboard for exactly that reason. Do you mean you want to play Keyboard or Piano (like classical, jazz, or something like that)

Either way, if you have the space in your studio you _ALWAYS_ should go for more keys (at least in my opinion)

or this one if you do

The Oxygen one is basically what I used for... over 2 years. Never really found it limiting at all (Although my classical background would have preffered 81 keys *shrug*)

Thanks for the help mate - Yeah I want to play classical piano as well as using it to create trance, but its important that its suitable to play classical piano. The number of keys is an issue I suspected of the Ozonic. I don't mind if there's not lots of features on a keyboard, I'm just after a good quality set of keys. Thanks again for the help!

My recommendation woudl be to go for the KeystationES, I find it has the better feel of the two. In fact the feel is much better then the more expensive KeystationPro which feels cheap.

Would you reccomend the M-Audio ProKeys 88sx?

It looks like a nice keyboard, have you any experience with this model?

Kinda cheesy sounds built in, I figure you're much better off spending the extra $ on getting a good soft synth or computer grand piano then using it

_BUT_ you'd be able to play something at least if your computer isn't plugged in (but it still needs to be hooked up to speakers because it doesn't have any built in)
