Default new soundcard

At the moment i am using dodgy sb live and now im planning to buy a new better card...
What do you recommend?
I am using logic audio for midi-sequencing and soundforge for recording. I dont much use softsynths or plugins, most of stuff is done with my a3000 sampler.
Is it any profit to get a 24bit card? The a3000 has optical outputs aswell, what cards have optical inputs?

i just got some promo material for new PC soundcards in the mail...It's at home, but I'll let you know what it is...they looked super high spec.

Lots of cards come with optical inputs - very nice to keep everything clean and digital

I got a M Audio Delta 66, which doesn't have optical, but does have a SPDIF in/out. It also has four analog ins and outs, and by all accounts is pretty badboy.
