sad need some advice for monitor speaker

hi,

I'm a student but I really need a monitor studio for my recording stuff.

My budget is very tight. Anyone could recommend a a good and affortable monitor speaker for home setup?

Or anyone has an idea where can get a cheap second hand monitor studio??

I'm looking at something below £200 if possible.

Thanks.

Well, definately go second hand. You might find some Dynaudio BM5's for that ( unpowered), or maybe an older, cheaper set like the spirits and the slew of stuf that came out the same time ( which were ok in the day ) Remember...you will also need an AMP !

Lot's of people will go mental at this, but you could do worse than some really good hifi speakers like b&w's. At that price range you're not looking at a real reference speaker anyway, so you might as well get something that performs well.

Alesis M1 MK2 Actives are pretty good for the money, £199.99 at Turnkey right now, if you're still looking

Theirs also the m-audio monitors, really inexpensive but suprisingly good quality. You should check them out.

We had some of these hooked up to the production pc at the studio and we were suprised to say the least.

chinglnc as said in post # 2 by mr_mix, your budget would fit for a second had one.

would also say to try minispeakers.co.uk before you check out with a used computer speaker.

I bought a laptop docking station from there, and its worth what I paid for the product.

cheers,
