exclamation Mixer to PC HElp!!!!!!!

I'm trying to record live mixes i do from my deck & mixers, straight to my laptop, but my laptop only has a mic input, and picks up a lot of background noise, i've tried turning down the record volume but this does not leave me with much room for monitoring,

help??????

Iv connected my decks up to my PC using a 3.5mm jack phono cable. It just connects via the back of your mixer straight into your sound card. This might help. The cable only cost about 5 pound. Try that

This is what i do - however - the man only has his laptop and the poor input options on the soundcard which came with it. Bastidos solution is a good one, whilst also a fairly decent external soundcard will not set you back too much.

you can get the soundblaster card for laptops that goes in the PCMCIA card slot. this has cables dangling from it (lol) that you can plug a 3.5mm jack into. Prob a bit expensive though for what you want it for.

You other option is an external soundcard like the creative Live! card. This just plugs into a USB socket.
