Default Mixdown

Wa gwan?

Don't come on here much, but you lot might be clever and answer the following ...

What is the purpose of the mixdown in production?

Everyone goes on about mixing down properly but I don't know what I'm actually aiming for other than a bit of tinkering with a bit of EQ?

ok for me the term mixing DOWN for me is to pay attention to cutting away at sound using eqing in a way so that for each track is balanced but will either be on 0db or below

hence the term to mix DOWN

for those that know just know and thats all am saying

basically when u hav arranged ya track and u hav selected all ya sounds and everything is sounding live... u will mixdown the track... coz u need all levels so that they "sit" well together... Coz the bassline may overwhelm the drums or the melody may be 2 low and be overwhelmed by the drums... basically u will "mixdown" the track so that all the elements of the track are in proprtion with each other and blend together nicely... u do things like EQ, Compression, Filters, change volumes, veloctiys etc... mixingdown is very important and should be taken time over... Hope that clears things up for u bruv
