Sorry, all that PC talk is above and beyond my Mac brain

You may need to reinstall Cubase...

Or read the manual if you have one *cough*

Sounds like the ASIO drivers for your soundcard haven't been linked up to Cubase's preferences or something like that.

Dj Raptor,
The audigy has ASIO2 drivers you could use instead of the MME. It gives you better latency in Cubase. I'm at work right now so I can't do a walk through with you, so hang on for a couple of hours and i'll post some instructions on how you could get the audigy working.

ok cheers. i think the problem may be that ive got 2 soundcards in my computer, and although the audigy has been installed, i think cubase is only recognising the other one..... how do i make it realise the audigy is the one i want?

Default hmmm...

Raptor...
If you think you got 2 soundcards in your PC try to go under device manager and check whether your Audigy was recognized when you installed it. Go under "sound, video and game controllers" and see if you have SB Audigy listed there. If it is, highlight it and click properties. You might have a resource conflict with the other soundcard. If you don't need the other soundcard, might as well take it out and uninstall the drivers. Once you done that, reinstall the Audigy. Always double check under device manager to see if your Audigy is indeed recognized. Also go under settings--control panel-- mutimedia and specify your Audigy as the preffered playback and recording device. Once you got that sussed then you could start setting up the Audigy to be used by Cubase.
In Cubase select the Audigy's ASIO driver (not the MME) for better performance. Open up the Audio System Setup dialog and click on the ASIO device drop down menu to check what drivers were installed. You should see the Audigy's ASIO2 driver, if not use the ASIO DirectX Full Duplex driver. Then Cubase will test the settings for you. If the test fails then you might have to try to reinstall the Audigy again, if it passes... go and make great music! Hope this helps!

BTW, i'm really not sure 'bout the Audigy coz I don't own one but the setup process should be the same for all other soundcards.

Raptor, why do you want 2 soundcards anyway? Or is the 1st one hardwired to the motherboard?

You may want to either remove or disable the other card as it may be causing IRQ interrupts/grabbing resources, etc.
